The National Maritime Museum follows the Dutch guidelines of the RIVM as well as the protocol of the Museums Association. Prior to your visit, it is important that you book a ticket and starting time slot online. This ticket will also allow you to take part in all activities at the museum. Following the adjusted coronavirus precautions set by the Dutch government, all visitors from the age of thirteen will be required to wear a face mask from Wednesday, September 30th onwards while visiting the National Maritime Museum. Visitors will have to provide their own face masks.

We will ensure that visitors can maintain a one-and-a-half metre's distance from one another, which means that you can make your way through the museum safely. There are also additional hygiene measures, such as disinfection points, and we clean touchpoints much more often. On top of this, we provide adequate and clear information. You can find all the details of our measures on our website or on signs in the museum. It goes without saying that our staff, too, are always there to assist you.

Our travel guide will transport you to worlds far, far away, and tell you all the best stories about special objects from the collection. We have activities cards, you can help draw the harbour of the future and for the smallest of guests there is even a reading programme. The storyteller takes everyone to the East Indiaman and literally holds a 'mirror' up to all guests. Bring your family to discover the exhibitions together. In this way your imagination takes you to faraway places, but you're still close to home.

All activities are free upon purchase of a museum ticket.
